Greetings to Antiwar Activists:

Please take time to review the four attachments.

The first is Zaineb Alani's keynote talk at the conference held July 10-12 at La Roche College in Pittsburgh. Her compelling personal story about life in Iraq today, her helping dispel illusions that the U.S. will soon be leaving Iraq, and her call for unity of the antiwar movement drew a thunderous standing ovation.

First attachment

The second is Marilyn Levin's account and evaluation of the first year of the National Assembly to End the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars and Occupations. Marilyn's talk was particularly significant because it laid out so clearly why the movement must take to the streets this fall and beyond. This underscores the importance of the action program unanimously adopted by the conference and the need now to go all-out to implement that program.

Second attachment

The third attachment is a form for endorsing the October 17 local and regional antiwar demonstrations. It is our earnest hope that this will be the first date in years for the movement to come together nationally for unified actions. As you will note, the form leaves it open for local groups to spell out their specific demands.

Third attachment

The fourth attachment is an invitation to all groups which support the National Assembly's five points of unity to seek representation on its Continuations Body. Please help us continue to strengthen our work, which is designed to unite the antiwar movement in visible actions to stop the U.S. wars and occupations.

In a subsequent posting, we will be forwarding the call for endorsement of the G-20 September 25 march in Pittsburgh.

We will also be forwarding appeals for endorsing the actions on October 5 in Washington D.C. and on other dates in early October, which were part of the action program adopted by the Pittsburgh conference.

With best wishes and in solidarity,
Jerry Gordon
Secretary, National Assembly to End the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars and Occupation
